Patriot's Day Celebration - School Event

Description
Sherman has celebrated what was formerly called Special Person's Day as part of a unique tradition that began when our current school was built in 1963. It allowed our students the opportunity to express their patriotism and love of their country and to remember and honor America's veterans some of whom are still alive to share their stories of bravery as well as those of whom have given their lives in our service. However, this year, we will rename this event Patriot's Day. This year, we will hold this special event on Friday 5/24 starting at 9:30am on the blacktop. Parents and families will be permitted to be on the field only. Each child can invite a special person(s) (a grandparent, relative, parent, friend, neighbor, etc.) to attend the program. This outdoor ceremony will include patriotic songs performed by the students from each grade level. This event will take place at the rear of the school on the blacktop. Please meet us there; there is no need to come to the main office nor to enter the building. Parents and families will be seated on the grass facing the rear of the school so please bring chairs, blankets, etc. Please also note that there will be an area sectioned off for students only so be sure to remain outside of this area at all times. We also encourage you to wear patriotic colors to show your spirit.
